Finding cleaning solutions without all the toxic chemicals isn’t easy in a saturated market with pretty labels. Why not save your money with home cleaning remedies that are inexpensive, easy to use, and actually work? My go-to solution: Lemons and a touch of salt. That’s it! Here are my favorite ways to use lemons in my cleaning routine!

#1: Cleaning with Lemons in the Microwave

Let’s start in the kitchen! Did you know you could use lemons and water to get your microwave looking shiny and brand new? This combination loosens food and build-up, making it simple to wipe clean. Skip the scrubbing by heating a microwave-safe dish filled with water and lemon slices.  Once the mixture is brought to a boil, the water and steam will loosen any built-up grime to make cleaning as easy as wiping the surface with a cloth.

#2: Deodorizing Your Dishwasher

This hack is one of my favorites! This requires lemon wedges, so you keep those lemons handy after you need a squeeze into iced tea or your favorite recipe. Throw the left-over wedges in the dishwasher to deodorize and clean the dishwasher. The acidity of lemons is a food-safe solution to cleaning and freshening the interior!

#3: Lemons in the Oven

A simple way to clean baked-on gunk in the oven! Sprinkle coarse salt on the grime, then scrub with a cut lemon.  The abrasiveness of the salt will break up the gunk, and the lemon will soak up the grease. Finally, wipe up with a damp cloth. Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy!

#4: Cleaning with Lemons in the Disposal

Lemons can be used as a natural deodorizer in your garbage disposal! The acidity helps to keep drains clear while eliminating odors. To remove any build-up in the drain, try adding one-half cup baking soda to  2 cups lemon juice, followed by hot water.  This simple mixture will get things moving in your pipes.
